( I will be adding to this page when I get a chance.)
Below are the Material options that I can use to make the Stem of a Custom pipe. Some Stem Materials are "Ebonite", Some are "Acrylic". Not all colors are available in Large Diameters.
(THIS PAGE IS INCOMPLETE, PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR ALL MATERIAL OPTIONS). Laytonpipes@gmail.com
EBONITE. Ebonite is softer on the teeth than Acrylic. Even high quality Ebonite can oxidize over time (years). I use Ebonite on around 90% of the pipes I make. Ebonite with swirling colors is sometimes called "Cumberland", or "Brindle".

5 - SWIRL GREEN "Cumberland" Ebonite , Green/Black
1 -SWIRL TAN, "Cumberland" Ebonite, Tan/Black
1 - SWIRL ROSE RED, "Cumberland" Ebonite, Rose Red/Black

ACRYLIC. Acrylic is "Plastic", although I only use "Cast" Acrylic. "Cast" acrylic is Strong and good quality. I use acrylic occasionally. Acrylic has a Harder feel in the teeth. Acrylic will not Oxidize. Acrylic may crack if dropped while Ebonite is more likely to absorb an impact. The Acrylic options I have are below. There are many Acrylic options. Most Acrylic options are not available in Large diameters.
